Mayor of Matale Duljith Aluvihare was produced before Matale Magistrate and Addl. District Judge Indika Attanayake on the charge of entering the Matale Railway Station premises by force, damaging the fences and constructing a road on the land belonging to the railway and was released on personal bail of Rs.100,000.
He had been summoned to court in connection with the complaint made by the Railway Security Service for causing damage to railway property. Officer In Charge of the Matale Railway Station made submissions on behalf of the Department while a panel of lawyers including Attorneys-at-Law Champika Wijeratne, Ajith Abeysekara, Asitha Wegodapitiya, Prasanna Saliya Dharmakirthi, Jaliya Gunaratne and Lasantha Balasuriya appeared for Mayor Aluvihare.
