A 40-year-old Chinese woman was arrested on charges of being in possession of illicit liquor worth Rs.200,000 at a luxury apartment at Wellawatte last afternoon.

Police said there were 38 four litre bottles and 24 two litre bottles of illicit liquor and that the preliminary investigations had revealed that the woman had brought the spirits from China and mixed it in Sri Lanka. They said this might have been going on for about six years that the bottles were meant to be distributed among the Chinese working in
Sri Lanka.
