The suspect, Chaminda Galaboda alias Utiya, who was arrested for causing physical harm to two novice monks at a temple in Horowpathana, was remanded till September 24, police said yesterday.
The suspect was remanded after being produced before the Padaviya Magistrate.
Police launched an investigation into the incident based on a video footage, which has gone viral on social media with regard to the assault on the two novice monks aged 11 and 14.
The two novice monks are currently receiving treatment at the Anuradhapura General Hospital, police said.
