Beliatta Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) Chairman Siril Munasinghe, who was arrested over the assault on a former PS member of the UNP, was released on bail yesterday.
Police said the PS chairman was arrested after he surrendered to the Beliatta Police Station last morning.
The suspect was wanted in connection with the alleged assault on Sarath Lokukuruge (63) on July 18 at the Beliatta Pradeshiya Sabha.
The PS Chairman was produced in the Tangalle Magistrate’s Court yesterday and released on two sureties of Rs.200,000 each.
