The government should bring into justice who had allegedly assaulted Daily Mirror /Lankadeepa Aluthgama Correspondent Tusitha Kumara de Silva and his wife on Friday,
MP Ajith P. Perera said yesterday.
Mr Perera told a press conference that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa should see to it that the politician who had allegedly assaulted the journalist in Aluthgama is brought to justice. “This correspondent and his wife has been assaulted allegedly by the politician as he had revealed that the latter had been running an illegal distillery in the area,” MP Perera said. MP Perera added that media which serves the people should not be harassed.
“We did not harass journalists during our government but it seems that things have changed now as media rights seems to be in jeopardy,” he added.
