All shops should be closed till 4 am Monday and only essential services would be allowed when the island-wide travel restriction is in force.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that online delivery service for medicine will be allowed to operate.
“Transportation is permitted only for essential services and patients can travel to hospitals or to the nearest pharmacy to purchase medicines,” he said.
He said the last digit ID system introduced for non-essential movements will be implemented from Monday.
An island-wide travel restriction imposed from 11 pm yesterday to 4 am till Monday in order to prevent a further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The spokesman said that those violating quarantine laws or travel restrictions could face up to six years in prison or a fine of up to 10,000 rupees, or both.
The DIG also said that the law will be strictly enforced this time.
Meanwhile, the police requested the public to immediately inform the nearest police station regarding those violating quarantine laws.
