Police arrested eleven suspects including two Pradeshiya Sabha members and a former PS member so far with regard to the received complaints and election law violations, police spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said.
While addressing the media he said a total of ten complaints and fourteen election law violation incidents had been reported so far to the Police Department regarding the presidential election.
“One of the two PS members from Walallavita PS division who was the Vice President, was arrested for transporting illegal posters. He is on bail condition. The other PS member belonged to the Panduwasnuwara PS division and he was arrested on Thursday (17) for damaging a house and criminal intimidation of the house occupants. He was produced in Court yesterday,” he said.
The former PS member belonged to the Pelmadulla PS division and he was arrested over an incident of attacking a bus and injuring several people who came for a rally, he said.
He was produced at the Pelmadulla Magistrate’s Court yesterday and remanded till October 28, the Spokesman added.
