She started off as a little dancer, then became an actress, then a singer and later entered Parliament at the last general elections. Today she is a journalist.

Popular actress cum Parliamentarian Upeksha Swarnamali who is still known among many as Paba, recently said she was playing the role of a journalist in a new tele drama.

“Remember I am also a journalist now,” she told Reel Life a few days ago stressing that she really loved the character that came in Anuruddha Jayasinghe’s ‘Yakada Pahanthira’.

Upeksha who is also known for her singing prowess, came fourth in the ‘Mega Star’ singing contest. She had just returned after a musical show in Dubai when she met us at a film muhurath ceremony in Nawala. She had been chosen to play the lead role in award-winning filmmaker Inoka athyangani’s comeback film  ‘Cinderella’.
