Sri Lanka Design Festival celebrates local crafts

Sri Lanka Design Festival which concluded at the Mount Lavinia Hotel dedicated its first day’s showing to Sri Lankan craftsman and local talent. Among famous local designers such as Yolande Aluwihare and Darshi Keerthisena, there emerged local brands such as Kandygs and Dilly’s and young designers such as Prabath Ratnasuriya, KUR and Dimuthu Sahabandu. These designers worked with local craftsman and weavers to redefine local crafts and give it an edge that none had seen before. Models from Sri Lanka and Italy walked the ramp. Sri Lankan craft truly boasted of vibrant colour and versatility as designers pushed boundaries and broke free of the conventional.
