Says a pretty face is not a passport to stardom
Twenty one-year-old model Melani Rochelle was born in Sri Lanka and now resides in Italy where she has made it big as a model. Today she talks to GO about life, love and romance.

First and foremost tell us absout yourself and your family background..
I am Melani Rochelle Fernando.I'm 21.I was born in Negombo to Alan Christy Fernando and Renuka Damayanthi Fernando on October 28 in 1989. My parents divorced when I was just a little baby. But my relations of my father brought me up treating me as their very own in a very safe environment looking after me as if I were a little flower. I spent my childhood in Seeduwa and attended 'Ave Maria Convent Negombo. My family moved to Italy when I was really young so I schooled there. I attended 'Carducci' (Gavirate) Secondary School. Then I entered Nervi high school for two years and moved to 'Magenta' to finish my HSC studies. 

Your childhood dream?
My childhood dream was to become a professional model. I am very happy that I have achieved my dream today. Though I am in the modelling field I would like to introduce myself as a simple girl who loves to lead a simple life. During my leisure I love to indulge in Bollywood Dancing and Swimming. My favourite dress is the saree and favourite colour is red.

What are you involved with now?
I currently work for the "Maison Sabattini Studio with International Photographer Luca Mosconi.....
The modeling field is not a fairy tale contrary to popular belief. It is difficult for one to find time for oneself as it requires a lot of sacrifice. Being pretty alone is not enough for one to remain in this field for long. One should be able to dedicate herself, sacrifice and be patient to be successful in this field. I am one of them. Modeling is my life.



How do males look at a female involved in the profession as a model?
I do not know how one looks at a girl in the modeling field. I suppose each person would look at it in different ways. However it is difficult for an engaged girl to occupy herself as a full time model as she would be having some responsibilities after engagement.

Do you exercise regularly,Your advice to young aspirants and how do you maintain your figure, fitness?
I do not go on any diet, I love eating a lot, Yet I do not put on any weight no matter how much I eat. If I do put on weight in the future I might however involve in more swimming, and go to a gym to keep myself in good shape.

What kind of man will make your future husband?
My future husband should understand me. He should be someone who'd want me to continue my career. I like to have an intelligent person with a good family background who would encourage me and help me to go
forward in this field
to achieve my dreams.
Speaking about romance, at the beginning of an affair everything is seems to be perfectly nice, but in reality all’s not romantic or rosy.
In a successful marriage both persons involved should have love, trust and understand each other.
