Many say that Koluu’s shows are always fun and entertaining. I had never been to one of these shows and when the opportunity came for me to do a review  of “Koluu’s Touch My Party”, I was more than pleased to do so just out of sheer curiosity to experience one of these “fantastic” shows first hand.

Finding something to match the dress code, which happened to be “blue and silver with a touch of pink”, was a treasure hunt on its own.

However after finding something to wear  and beating the traffic,  I was finally standing outside the Oak Room of the Cinnamon Grand watching the guests enter (some who were dressed pretty outrageously!)

Finally, the doors opened and with much hustle and bustle, the guests were seated at their tables, which I must comment, had a brilliant arrangement, which featured a disco ball and many other goodies!

When the lights went out the cheer that erupted from the hall was astounding. Mind you, this audience was made up of “Colombo’s elite” personalities and they were quite prepared for a good time. The opening act featured “everybody’s favorite Koluu in drag dancing to the song “get this party started” by Pink.

Following this item the stage went dark and the speakers blasted off, um, noises and a figure with red hair moving about in dim light.

The sounds of whips echoed throughout the hall with the speakers screaming the starting line of Rihanna’s song S&M “I like it, like it.” For one split second I thought Koluu had actually gone to the extent of bringing down the “Jamaican song goddess” down to perform! This actually turned out to be Danu who put on a very dare I say it, dirty performance.

I am sure if a person who had no idea as to what was going on had walked in he or she would have certainly have gone bananas over this performance.

The next big attraction was what many had been waiting for - a  performance by Lou-Ching Wong who as always “goes to town” when creating a costume. He dressed up as an Indian girl and danced to a Hindi song.

Another big highlight of the evening was Koluu’s interview with Rosy Senanayaka who was introduced by Indu in a hilarious manner.

Other guest appearances were made by Anusha Damayanthi and the ever famous “Thattaya- Ronnie Leitch.”

All in all “Touch My Party” was a show which was certainly one of a kind with many other commendable performances by Koluu and the gang.  It  was all about having  fun and most importantly the proceeds from the show were going towards charity.
