The organizers of the Electric Peacock Festival are excited to launch yet another first at the festival on Friday 16 December… the arrival of Sri Lanka’s first ever Silent Disco.
What is Silent Disco?
It is a global phenomenon taking over music festivals across the world. “If you go to any great music festival in Europe like Glastonbury or even EXIT festival in Serbia, there is always a Silent Disco. This marks our festival apart from other musical events that have taken place in Sri Lanka and it will be a brand new experience for all the festival attendees,” says Leah Bazalgette, Festival Director.
Silent disco is the common name for a disco where people dance to music listened to on wireless headphones. Rather than using a speaker system, music is broadcast via an FM-transmitter with the signal being picked up by wireless headphone receivers worn by the participants. Those without the headphones hear no music, giving the effect of a room full of people dancing to nothing. Often two DJs compete for listeners.
The Electric Peacock team has also highlighted that all the equipment to run the area will be flown in from the UK and will feature two hot DJs from London!
Together with their partner, Silent Social, the Festival organizers are aiming to deliver the best silent/headphone party that festival attendees have ever been to. Whether it is the first time they have experienced this silent phenomenon, or if the festival attendees are old pros, when it comes to headphone parties, the team promises that the audience is sure to enjoy this unique experience!
For those who are new to this concept, this is how it works…
- Two DJs, Two Music Channels
- Grab a pair of headphones
- Pick your DJ at the flick of a switch
- AND PARTY!
