Sri Lanka Cricket has appointed former Sri Lanka fast bowler Rumesh Ratnayake as the National Fast Bowling coach.
The appointment comes few weeks after national fast bowling coach Champaka Ramanayake resigned to take up a coaching position with the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Ratnayake 53, will be a part of the High Performance Centre at Kettarama and will spearhead SLC’s talent identification, skills development and training processes.
“He will be based at Khettarama and will mainly focus on developing the skills of Sri Lankan fast bowlers. So he is not going to be traveling with the national team,” said SLC CEO Ashley de Silva.
Chaminda Vaas who is national U-19 fast bowling coach was promoted look after the national team after Ramanayake resigned on interim basis.
Ratnayake worked as a fast bowling consultant for the national team during the 2015 World Cup.
