A singular and very distressing lack of a sense of humor or even the perception of one, in all the replies !

Even more saddening than the death of an elephant calf.

I feel like you represent all the young and tender animals and even human children who died in floods and tsunami. May you rest in peace .May you never ever face such a trgedy in sansara!

    Oh mygod...
    So Sad..

    Ranjan Thursday, 13 January 2011 11:25 AM

An Independent inquiry has to be held. The water level cannot be that high, unless there was a Tsunami. So someone has killed the elephant and placed it on top of a tree.

    koplar Thursday, 13 January 2011 11:44 AM

    Cobra Thursday, 13 January 2011 12:27 PM

Wrong, Ranjan. I have seen old logs stuck on trees over 20 feet high brought about by floods during normal rainy season in the Kuruwita area. We did not see such a sight after the Tsunami!

    lovely Thursday, 13 January 2011 12:30 PM

Yez Ranjan...... i bet you are trying to say MR and GR killed the elephant and placed him on the tree...... Get a life man...

    Kelby Thursday, 13 January 2011 12:36 PM

Before you worry about elephants, It's very much important to take care of the displaced people who are still held in the flooded camps.

    Thilakarathne Thursday, 13 January 2011 12:40 PM

Ranjan, are you mad or just out of your mind ??

    hemantha Thursday, 13 January 2011 12:44 PM

Does any body knows where are the tuskers of recently died jubo;s?

    sarath Thursday, 13 January 2011 12:44 PM

This may be the first elephant in the world who died on a tree

    Gayan Thursday, 13 January 2011 01:00 PM

Yes Shehan you a right. Very bad time for elephants.
Kill for tusk, Kill for theft the baby elephant, Train crash, Shot by farmers, Shot by grama arakshaka, Dead by transportation and now dead from flood. The day last elephant vanish from Sri Lankan forest is not so far. No one want to bread elephants. at least tame elephants owners association. Elephants pregnancy pried is near two years. So their population increment is very low. we must take action now.

    TMA Thursday, 13 January 2011 01:04 PM
