DIG Gunathilake assumed duties as STF Commandant

DIG Lionel Gunathilake yesterday assumed duties as 12th Commandant of the Special Task Force of Police (STF).

He joined the Police on January 20, 1985 as a Sub Inspector of Police and joined the STF on March 20, 2014.

DIG Gunathilake who was the Deputy Commandant of the STF was appointed as the new Commandant of the STF after Senior DIG M.R. Latheef retired from the service.

SDIG Latheef has retired on February 4, after serving 41 years in the Police Department. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya and Pix by Nimalsiri Edirisingha)
