Hambantota port now active

Vehicles were offloaded from ships berthed at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Port at Hambantota marking the commencement of regular commercial activities. MP Namal Rajapaksa and Deputy Minister of Ports and Highways Rohitha Abeygunawardena participated in the event. Pix by Jayamal Chandrasiri

There were over half a million vehicles imported to SL last year and as a result Colombo port made an Operating profit of Rs 1.20 billition (Questionablr) then GOSL imposed tax hike to cut this amount to 20% and then we are building ports around the country.

So what is the financial impact to Colombo port for 2012 year alone with Capital + interest repayments on new harbour.
