Newly-elected President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was yesterday urged to give special attention to resurrecting Sri Lanka’s ailing industrial sector through empowering micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
While congratulating on his appointment as the seventh Executive President, Confederation of Micro, Small and Medium Industries in Sri Lanka (COSMI) Founder President Nawaz Rajabdeen requested Rajapaksa to extend his special attention to fostering MSMEs in the country and specially support women and youth entrepreneurs.
Rajabdeen concurred that paying particular attention to the North and East regions is vital towards the country’s economic prosperity as well as for national integration.
He also requested the new president to prioritise the establishment of a National Industrial Policy to effectively serve the local industrial community, whilst maintaining a global outlook.
