Last few months we saw how you worked around the clock? Your disunity is the main reason for the party fall not the leadership issue.

UNP will most probably end up as the winners, but the questions is whether they can win all 5 seats, Colombo North, colombo east, colombo west, Colombo central & borella.
I have the feeling that UNP will have a tough time in Colombo west & Borella, where Sinhala buddhist are the majority. it will be a shame for them to lose those seats after dominting for so many years, including Mahindas corrupted 2010 election

Sujeewa, if the nominated people are wrong, then how could you expect CMC to function properly. It could lead to evenmore desaster if wrong UNPers are in the list.
Best thing that you could do is to let Ranil to run the shaw and see how he performs. If we want to do justice to good UNPers and justice to voters in Colombo, just keep quite.

The UNP should win, but the margin is the issue and the voter turnout. I just hope the election is free and fair and election related violence is held in check

Why doesn't the "reformists" once and for all take a decision and oust RW as the leader?. They are forever, at the crucial times shouting and then "unite" for the sake of the party. This is becoming a joke. Is RW the cause of all the corruption and thuggery in the country?. Who is the leader of the "Reformists"?. Karu, Sajith, Rosy, "umpire", Senasinghe...?. First of all decide who your leader is and if possible stick to an agenda and do what you can. Otherwise, keep your mouths shut or cross over to the UPFA.

Sujeewa, you people are still an inexperienced lot including Sajith who is trying to jump the gun before he gets his genuine opportunity to lead. You people do not have patience what politicians should essentially have. Please re-think your stance at this crucial time, without breaking the party into peices.
upulkarupul Saturday, 27 August 2011 06:23 AM
This time your clock will work anti clock wise .UPFA wil difinitely
win.

It would be disadvantagous for the UNP if people like this go around campaigning in Colombo. About a week ago they shouted out to the people that their party constitution is illegal. Now they go before those very people asking for their votes. In my opinion they are nothing but a bunch of jokers.
Hafiz Saturday, 27 August 2011 06:43 AM
Sujeeva, even if you work anti-clockwise, UNP will easily win CMC.
Imran Hussein Saturday, 27 August 2011 06:53 AM
UNP should win CMC in any case. Had Imtiaz Markar given the nomination it would be a one horse race for the UNP. Sajith is in the select commitee with Karu J . as its leader then why he didnt oppose the appointed condidate. Entire UNP is out of its brain.
Rahmathullah Saturday, 27 August 2011 07:40 AM
Your choice Imtiyaz Bakeer not only can win the race but also can bring back some lost prestige of the UNP. I don't why Ranil & Co oppose the good people. First work round the clock to oust the leader, then victory will come easily to UNP.
Calistus Jayatilleke Saturday, 27 August 2011 08:07 AM
Can't undersand what these so called "reformists" stand for. If they feel the working committee is unconstitutional and the nominated candidates are not acceptable to them, then the best thing would be to refrain from supporting or opposing rather than just pretending because that would prove to be a disadvantage to the party's winning capability.
sulaiman Saturday, 27 August 2011 09:30 AM
Unp missed the chance to win colombo MMC by fielding Mr Muzammil Hon Imtiaz Bakeermarker if contested definitly win with a overhelming majority As usual UNP going to face another
shameless defeat at Colombo where UNPs stronghold
It is a good lesson to entire UNP leaders to realize the fault & their resposibility Changing the leadership only UNP can win
