Hon. Minister when are we going to learn from history. According party press releases all the parties have tasted victory. No one has lost. If it is so why have elections. All vikara katha. via DM iPad app

The Minister accepts two things:
1. The earlier elections were won with the war winning euphoria.
2. The opposition is becoming stronger gradually.
WHAT A SHAME FOR A GOVERNMENT MINISTER TO ACCEPT ALL THESE. THE PRESIDENT SHOULD KICK HIM OUT.

Further erosion of main opposition has been clearly visible and people have shown temporary disillusion with the govt for a certain extent by voting for Sarath Fonseka. UNP and JVP are the main opposition which have failed to build up a public opinion. If opposition is getting momentum why Sarath Fonseka has emerged as the 3rd force over and above JVP. People have clearly shown solidarity with the govt. and those who are unpatriotic to the country have used votes indiscriminately. Overall we can't see and emergence of a big opposition for the govt. Govt will march forward for the next 25 years.

You are correct Sir, comparing with previous election results is a foolish act. Example: price of bread in 2000 is not the same in 2014.

And if it wasn't for Geneva the UPFA would have lost even more votes. UPFA probably got plenty of solidarity/sympathy votes but eventually GoSL will run out of excuses.
Simple Simon Monday, 31 March 2014 03:51 AM
