Tragic death at Peradeniya hospital

A mentally retarded patient who was being treated at the psychiatric ward of the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital died today after a fellow patient of the same ward tried to overpower him by covering him with a bed sheet.

Police said the victim had lost control and acted violently after his condition worsened, when the others had tried to bring him under control. (JAL Jayasinghe and Shane Seniviratne)

    How a such thing happened in a hospital? Where are the doctors, nurses, attendants and other hospital who are looking after the ward? What were they doing? Its a big puzzle for us.
