If they gave their statements in Romanian, they are invalid. So try them on the basis of the evidence and jail them.
The law allows statements in one of three languages, and only a legally certified translation into one of these three is admissible.
Better yet, keep them in remand until the Romanian Foreign Ministry sends a consular official to represent their case. That will take longer than any sentence they get...

LOL. you can ask statements in Sinhalese from Tamils sometime who don't know even a single Sinhalese word. probably tried the same approach wih Romanians... they fired back..
