New election system for LG bodies passed

The preferential voting system for local government bodies has been abolished with the passing of the Local Authorities Election Amendment Bill and the Local Authorities Special Provisions Bill in parliament a short while ago

The bills were designed in order to change the voting system.

    that's excellent as we all know now all the rogue An-unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable fellows; and the scoundrel or rascal. will all not get to represent us. i know we all think that this also should be the way in our parliament ( hope this will get passed for the parliament also. all the very best to Sri Lanka. excellent Job done Precedent.

    It's a bad move, the first post the past system can be manipulated so that more gov mps get into parliament. Furthermore, the opposition won't be adequately represented.

    Good. Should be followed by parlimentary electoral PREFERENTIAL system and finally with kicking out the dictatorial EXECUTIVE PRESIDENCY SYSTEM.

    No,no, an amendment should be brought up to say that any vote cast for opposition will be counted as a vote for government!

    First referential system. Then Presidential system too. Then ethnic based all parties also must be abolished. After all we can see democracy.
