People, we thought how to govern in Jan 8th and Aug 17th. Now is time to teach our police force. These two cops should be fired without any compensation.I have observed many a times our police force is not disciplined enough to provide public service.

The people of this country must change not the government. Sick people will do these things irrespective which government is in power

It is the Sri Lankan system that treat their own citizens this way. No good human would treat a disabled person this way. A trained police officer had difficulties to pursue the person to collaborate with the police. There is no need for force. You can change the government, you cannot change the system.

If the Police are treating this man in front of everyone like this, just imagine what they do to him inside the Police cell. Is he still alive or jumped/pushed from a jeep or a window. ?.

A UNP Municipal Council Member of Colombo assaulted an autistic youth. the boys family was afraid to go to the police in fear for their lives from this thug. and the UNP will give these fellow nominations aging. What is this government going to do about these kind of people is it going to continue to entertain them in their respective Political Parties!?

Barbaric act on a disabled person, Would the Po-LICE would treat the same way for Drug Lords, Ministers and their kith n kin, Underworld etc, etc?

    Rudy Thursday, 24 September 2015 11:41 AM

If this barbaric behaviour was done overseas, these cops would be in jail. The police have no authority to beat up a man even though he may have not stopped. This can only happen in SL. Shame.

Beautiful Sri Lanka compliments of Sri Lanka Police. The miracle island, Nice and Hurray!

    STORY Friday, 25 September 2015 07:10 AM

The police will come out with one of their tall stories.

    John Thursday, 24 September 2015 12:27 PM

Mr IGP, time you woke up to these repeated dastardly acts by your men now shown on video. At least take immediate action. I feel ashamed as a Sri Lankan that our barbarism specially to a disabled person outsmarts the worst of its perceived so-called ancient civilisation...HUMAN RIGHTS, where are you?

    Yasin Thursday, 24 September 2015 12:32 PM

The video says it allThis incident is similar to an incident where a police sergeant was videoed assaulting a woman with his service belt in an open ground in full view of the public. This is police brutality and have to stop or else the police will lose their trust and respect of the public and this in turn will reflect on the politicians who have been elected by the people to redress their needs and safety.Officers-in-Charge of the police station must take stern action against policemen who break the code of public conduct bring disrepute to their department.

srilankan police behave like US police..pleace remove these thugs

    ANTON Thursday, 24 September 2015 01:16 PM

I THINK THE POLICE MAN IS MENTALLY DISABLED.

    Mohamed Thursday, 24 September 2015 10:09 AM

Did the OIC really say he is unaware of the incident and then say that the man had bitten assaulted the police. Will a disabled man take on the might of thr polive. Hard to believe. Whatever it is the police action is excessive and inappropriate.

    Sapu Wednesday, 23 September 2015 11:10 PM

The police should be able to hand cuff a person without beating him to death!

    Mason Thursday, 24 September 2015 10:12 AM

The government boasts that they have restored law and order in the country. Unless a common man is spared assault by the Police, there is no law and order in the country.Another assault to be conveniently forgotten.

    P Aberuwan Wednesday, 23 September 2015 11:16 PM

Police used excessive force to disable a disable person. It doesnt matter what alcohol he consumed the two police personnel must be accounted for this sort of assault. Where is the fairness?
