Police probing into the mysterious death of a PC

The Kandy police have commenced a special probe into the mysterious death of Police Constable Anura who was found dead on Rajapihilla Road in Kandy on Saturday evening.

The police was informed by the residents of the area that the injuries on his body were caused by a sharp object.

The victim was attached to the minor complaints branch of the Kandy police station, police media spokesman Ajith Rohana said.

The magisterial inquiry was conducted by Kandy Magistrate Ravindra Premaratne and the body was sent to the Kandy General Hospital for the post mortem.

The police are investigating whether the PC had a long standing personal dispute with any individual in the area which may have led to his death. (Supun Dias)
