Elliott finished on 84 not out as New Zealand chased down 298 to win with one ball to spare.

With five needed to win and two balls remaining, Elliott hit Dale Steyn over the boundary rope for six.

New Zealand will face either Australia or India in the final on Sunday in Melbourne.
