Member of the Lankapura Pradeshiya Sabha Sri Sarath Ananda was attacked by a wild elephant this morning in front of his house. He was injured in the incident and admitted to Polonnaruwa general hospital. (K.G.Karunaratne)

This is the very reason that strong electrified fences,elephant corridors and large forest areas are essential to keep elephants in and humans out.When will our Governments take action to prevent this so called elephant human conflict?Safety of humans is very important but at the same time Sri Lanka will not be Sri Lanka without these magnificent animals who are not to be blamed for this conflict.These innocent animals and their babies are being treated atrociously in their natural habitats ,which are diminishing fast,thanks to A Very,Very inefficient Ministry of Wild Life.Everyone knows it ,but our Govt. Is not doing anything about it. Election Fever has hit them from day one.What A Sad Day For our Elephants and the rest of our Wild life.
