A Sri Lankan man fighting extradition to Switzerland for the murder of a woman 14 years ago has been denied a variation to his strict bail conditions.
It was to attend church services. The woman, said to be the man's partner, was stabbed to death in her apartment in 2000.
The man was arrested in Auckland in August. A court hearing took place today at the Auckland District Court today - with police opposing the 42 year old's application saying he poses a flight risk.
The judge agreed, saying a two hour window to attend mass could be used by him to make arrangements to abscond.
The man's identity and how he got to New Zealand has been suppressed.
