The revised pass marks of students who sat the Grade-5 Scholarship Examination will be announced on November 17, Education Minister Bandula Gunawardane told Parliament today.
The minister said his ministry reversed the overall minimum pass mark from 163 to 157 for Sinhala medium students and from 159 to 152 for Tamil medium students.
He said this decision was taken in conformity with the budgetary proposal to increase the number of bursaries from 15,000 to 25,000 this time.
"The budget proposals will result in 10 000 more students receiving monthly stipends with the stipends increased from Rs.500 to Rs.1,500. The new pass marks of each district will be announced by the Examinations Department on November 17,"he said. (KB and YP)
