The article reads as "was accused of carrying out the attacks and killings during July 1, 2001 to December 31, 2001.He had functions as the LTTE leader of Palampatar". What a surprise ruling. Doing such & much harm, as well knowing that a terrorist leader he is acquitted by AG. If it is so, no need of judges or magistrates AG can do away as needed.

Really? So if freedom fighters are suicide bombers, who are they? And if they ethnically cleanse villages, are they killing for pleasure or for power or both? Very good news indeed that former Tigers are released scot free. Is this reconciliation? Must be!

    Sam Wednesday, 18 September 2013 01:42 PM

When the accused confesses with contradictions they are acquitted ... this will be a good precedent ... when you are charged confess with contradictions, you can go free.

Another instance of a tamil being harassed? How come no comments about the govt's fair play here?
Saskia you need to learn the meanings of the words 'freedom fighter' and 'genocide'. The LTTE were terrorists NOT freedom fighters.

Kiris Baba Amaray Thursday, 19 September 2013 02:46 AM

Wrong verdict. Murderers should be punished. This man should have been hanged.

    Duminda N Jayatileke Thursday, 19 September 2013 03:02 AM

LTTE are recognised around the world as freedom fighters, so there is nothing you can do about it.
