A media report from India proves that the alleged match fixing incident involving a Sri Lankan player had happened only six years ago in 2006 and not during the recent IPL tournament as it was widely publicized.

Some local websites and other media were quick even to name the Sri Lankan player, but it has now proven only to be madeup. The young Sri Lankan star named as the culprit was just an 18year old playing school cricket at the time when the alleged bribing took place.

“The probe has now moved to Delhi. A team from Mumbai Police left for Delhi on May 21. Their goal: Check the truth in Kothari's claim that he paid Rs.10 crore to a Sri Lankan cricketer to fix a one-day international match in 2006” said a report in the India Today newspaper on May 28.

The report also quoted Indian police as saying that they cannot name the Sri Lankan players as the allegation was still unverified.

"We cannot reveal the name of the Sri Lankan player. Investigations are still on," Mumbai Additional Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nangre-Patil told the newspaper.

They can not do anything without dragging srilanka to it.
India sucks, smells and currupt to its core.
    Land of great Ghandians...Jay hoo...

    Amo Friday, 01 June 2012 10:52 PM

nope it is not about angelo, as he did not represent the @farook - national team in the year 2006.

if you are close follower of cricket, it is an easy pick, to spot the player whom the player is.

there is no point in identifying whom it is, as it says, it is cooked up story.

Indians know our cricketers are much more talented when compare with the Indians. So they always try to disturb and upset the cricketers.

    shace-UK Friday, 01 June 2012 08:24 AM

well said mate....but you have forgotten to mention Manoj prabahar and ajay jadeja as well!!!!

    Hasthi Friday, 01 June 2012 08:41 AM

Let the authorities investigate. If it is true, let us accept it and weed it out of the game.

If possible take action against the web sites and other media for defamation of the young cricketer whom they jumped to name without proof. Upholding the rights of innocent is as important as weeding out the corrupt.

    Jayaa Friday, 01 June 2012 08:51 AM

This is ridicules. How can a 18 year schoolboy cricketer fix a match when seniors and veterans are playing in the same team? is he such a super power at that age?

    Sammy Friday, 01 June 2012 02:34 PM

Atleast in India everything eventually comes into the open unlike here where issues are swept under the carpet & covered up. That is real democracy. What happened to the Hashan Tillekeratne allegations and SLC CD regarding the last World Cup accounts?

    Mayu Saturday, 02 June 2012 06:53 AM

So six years ago games was not played!

    Dilan Friday, 01 June 2012 09:06 AM
