An organization identifying themselves as Women for Justice yesterday filed a petition in the Court of Appeal seeking a Quo Warranto order to unseat former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe from his parliamentarian seat.

The organization's co-chairman Sharmila Gonawela told the media that Mr. Wickremesinghe’s membership in Parliament was illegal.

She claimed that while Mr. Wickremesinghe was functioning as a parliamentarian a company of his was involved in business with State organizations and institutions and as such he could not act as a parliamentarian.

She said therefore she sought the Court to declare that his membership in parliament was null and void. (T.Farook Thajudeen)

Women always seek justice. Sky is the limit for justice according to them and no one is going to challenge them because of the justice. The world end some day because of their justice.

    Samson Tuesday, 11 December 2018 07:36 PM

Did RW's business with govt start yesterday? or is this a stunt by the JOkers. If it was old business what was this person doing all this time. Of course there are no others in parliament doing any business with govt.

    K. C. John Tuesday, 11 December 2018 07:39 PM

They actually call themselves "Women for Justice"? Somebody's either got an extreme sense of humour or the "Sirisena Syndrome"!

    Unchikun Tuesday, 11 December 2018 07:58 PM

    As least Ranil is sane.

    UniDon Tuesday, 11 December 2018 08:07 PM

wonder whether time relay matters when it comes to conflict of interest? maybe this woman a puppet, but we should carefully listen what she has to tell us

    Shan Tuesday, 11 December 2018 08:13 PM

Stupid. Anyone directly elected by the people's vote can only be unseated with voting down by the people unless there is a breach of the constitution. If what this woman is saying true, what about all the other MPs?

    Cow Tuesday, 11 December 2018 08:17 PM

    Gona who?

Finding so many trumps to hit RW. Shame... Shame... Shame...

    PAUL Tuesday, 11 December 2018 08:34 PM

It seems that these days lawyers of Sirisena and MR are too busy. All of them are twenty four hour duty in search of faults of RW.

    Harini Wednesday, 12 December 2018 06:22 AM

Well there are so many faults in him. Like not carrying out the mandate for which he was elected for example.

Ali Akbar Tuesday, 11 December 2018 09:46 PM

She must not be a MR supporter. RW will loose for the 30th time if he is in parliament.

    PIWA Wednesday, 12 December 2018 06:00 AM

What is this women for justice? Seems to be a tea club. Google provides nothing about this ladies club. Not even an Internet presence you will find.

    Ranjit Wednesday, 12 December 2018 07:23 AM

Is there a way to punish a person for wasting valuable court time and effort.

    cham Wednesday, 12 December 2018 08:51 AM

    Who's keep is this?

    maiqbal Wednesday, 12 December 2018 03:22 PM
