A woman was arrested with seven hand grenades, two body armours, a shotgun and several rounds of ammunition from a house in Homagama.
Police said the weapons were recovered by the Homagama Police following the investigation conducted into the recovery of assault riffles in Pitipana on Monday.
The Organised Crimes Division of the Special Task Force on Monday recovered 11 T-56 rifles and a T-81 riffle from a building in Pitipana, Homagama.
Two suspects including the building owner who are the accomplices of underworld figures Kosgoda Tharaka and Gagana were arrested along with the weapon haul.
Police said the woman who was arrested today had maintained contact with the building owner. The arrest was made following a tip-off received by the State Intelligence.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
