The Education Ministry is hoping to discuss with private institutions to identify the skills and abilities needed for job opportunities available in both the government and private sectors, Education Minister Professor G.L. Pieris said.
Assuming duties at the ministry today, he said that the ministry should identify job availability and the skills and abilities that jobs need not only in the private sector but also in the government service.
“That should start from the level of the Grama Niladhari and Pradeshiya Sabha,” he said.
“The education system of a country should change according to the needs and culture of the country. We cannot change our education system according to how South Korea or Singapore change,” he said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
