New Democratic Front (NDF) presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa said once voted into office he would appoint a new prime minister who he felt could command a majority in parliament.
"I will not include any individual accused of corruption in my ministerial cabinet," he said making a special announcement at a private TV station.
His remarks came after Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe recently told reporters that he would continue to remain in his position as PM during Premadasa’s tenure as president as well.
The NDF candidate emphasised that he would appoint a cabinet of ministers comprising of young and skilled individuals who would publicly declare their assets and liabilities.
He said he would conduct the parliamentary elections at “the earliest”, and appoint a “stable government” that would see only professionals and women entering parliament through the national list.
“Nepotism and the old corrupt political system should end. Authoritarian politics which sees individuals clinging onto power by use of force or violence should end,” Premadasa said.

Corrupt politicians also should be part and parcel of a government, if not that govt. will not be attractive. Please note you can change the ideas and not the people.

If Sajith lose UNP might recover at-least 10 years later. If Sajith wins he will do what his father did to this party. Chase out all gentlemen and surround himself with thugs from his ghetto.

Why did RW claim to be next PM. Can we believe this. Will it be Sumanthiran then.
Dev Thursday, 07 November 2019 02:28 PM
What if Ranil kicks you out from the party? He is still the party leader.

Seems very refreshing, hope he remains sane as he speaks in case he wins.
We need a new Sri Lanka free of racism, free of courption and a foresight to development.

"I will not include any individual accused of corruption in my Ministerial Cabinet,"
Which means the current cabinet will be replaced with new members altogether!
For you to change the PM you will have to get a peoples mandate to vote in the Peoples Constitution proposed by Nagananda.

WHO are we to believe? All corrupt politicians are canvassing for Sajith P. Then he should get rid of these corrupt politicians from his stages!!
I think he is testing our intelligence or he think we are fools

Well said Sajith , we are with you. I don't think GOTA can make such a bold statement since he is corrupt to the core.

This is my first time, I listened Sajith's speech and it is a good speech. He seems to be a qualified candidate. I wish him a good luck as a citizen of the world though I am not a Sri Lankan citizen.

Are you going to create a new robot PM?
Dhammika Friday, 08 November 2019 06:50 AM
What ever set backs caused to the UNP since 1994 and then from 08 Jan 2015 is mailnly due to RW .
Carl Y Friday, 08 November 2019 07:29 AM
Next government would be tug of war between prez and PM if Sajith wins,Sajith telling new PM and again RW telling i am the PM, but country need one government who can concentrate on the country, not to sling mud to each other

Agree with Gamini. We listen but our intelligence will work.
