A video footage captured following the joint opposition-led protest held at Hambantota today, showed a senior police officer assaulting an arrested protester.

Meanwhile, posting the video on his Twitter page, MP Namal Rajapaksa asked, “A.S.P. Daluwaththa, is this Yahapalanaya?”

When contacted, Police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said he was yet to see the video.

Not an issue. A court order was issued, misbehaved, controlled by police. Now govt cannot be lenient as the country is in the developing stage. I think Lee Kwan Liu methods are required to control the thuggery.

Why was this Senior police Officer not wearing his Cap which is an official issue??If he is in uniform as seen, he must put on the Cap too as it is an official issue.How could decipline be maintained when a senior Officer flout it?This improperly dressed Police officer must be given a Charge Sheet and then charge for assaulting a non-violent arrested person without any provocation.
