A video is being circulated on social media showing a group of police officers chasing behind people roaming on the roads, violating quarantine laws due to which they were taken into custody after being carried away.
It was reported that the operation was launched in Jaffna yesterday.
Accordingly, those who were not wearing face masks in public were seen carried by the police officers and put into a bus to be taken to a quarantine centre.
Police and health authorities are conducting special operations in various parts of the country to locate the persons and institutions that violate health instructions amidst a rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus, police said. (DSB)

Really appreciate what police did. Why cannot they do this in all areas?? Today I drove down Kerawalapitiya Road in Hendala and counted 34 fools without masks. I request the police to do this in all areas

Packing everyone in a bus? It is major violation and that type of action is wrong. What if these persons are having various other health issues and what if someone within that bus is positive n all becomes positive after that.

In this scenario, I feel SL Police action is more human than Indian Police. In India, they assault the wrong doers.

Rather than playing the blame game; people should take responsibility for their own actions, and ignoring safe practice will be detrimental to all of us.

Why were the people wearing masks pushed into the BUS? It seems definitely a discrimination.

Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka; Police get seasonal chances to practice force on public after every law made in this country. A fine is a decent action, but not surely physical force like this. This is humiliating fellow human, country and POLICE
