Many of the Shops in Galle have been closed today as a protest against the government’s move to increase the Value Added Tax (VAT) to 15%.
The protest has been organized by the Galle District Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board.
Home Affairs Minister Wajira Abeywardena visited that area and assured the protesters that he would try to resolve this matter after discussion with the Finance Minister. (D.G. Sugathapala)
