Responding to the allegations made by MP Wimal Weerawansa, the US Embassy yesterday said it takes security in Sri Lanka very seriously.

It also said all mission personnel and official visitors are instructed to comply with Sri Lankan security and safety procedures within the parameters of the Vienna Convention.

“We are aware of a misunderstanding that took place at a hotel in Colombo over a month ago and was resolved. Our security officers routinely work in close coordination with Sri Lanka security officials and we are grateful for the excellent cooperation," the US Embassy spokesperson said.

National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader MP Weerawansa alleged that six US nationals, who had arrived in Sri Lanka in a US State aircraft, have refused to hand over their luggage for inspection at a hotel in Colombo and at the airport.

Very conveniently worded as RESOLVED. But how was it done?

    Ram Friday, 06 September 2019 06:06 AM

There was no need for a resolution unless there was an issue. So for once Modawansa has raised some Gnanawansa issue.
