The United National Party today called all progressive forces to join in its efforts in defeating the Government’s effort to abolish the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.
UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said in a statement that it was the duty of people-friendly forces to sustain the freedom that was won in 2015.
“The Government is planning to bury the freedom won by the people in this country painstakingly and to bring about dictatorship and nepotism by scrapping the 19th Amendment,” the statement said.
The statement said that the previous Government was able to ensure freedom and democracy through enacting the 19th Amendment.

The UNP did the country in to a mess. Mainly the 19A. The UNP did nothing for the country and this government should and will remove the 19A, Akila Viraj better find a leader for the UNP and see how many seats you could get in Parliament without talking nonsense and the obvious. This government will get 2/3rd and abolish 19A. UNP will never be back for 30 years. Not during your time. Find another job.

These amendments are made to suite the whims and fancies of every party that comes to power. its like a prostitute now. The people just don't care any more as these are all done to safe guard corrupted politicians and nothing else.
