SLMC MP M. S. Thowfeek today said that a broader alliance is needed to overcome the challenges which the UNP and its allies would face at the next presidential election.

Speaking during the inauguration of the work on the Muttur Batticaloa Road last Saturday, Mr Thowfeek proposed that the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) should be included in the new alliance.

“We need a broader alliance to face the challenges which may come our way at the next presidential election,” he said.

UNP MP for Trincomalee District Imran Maharoof said he will support whoever Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe chooses as the party’s candidate for the presidential election.(Yohan Perera in Muttur)
