Colombo High Court today postponed the hearing of the case against Senior DIG Anura Senanayake for screening evidence of the murder of Havelock Sports Club rugby player Wasim Thajudeen for November 7.
High Court Judge Vickum Kaluarachchi postponed the hearing for November 7 as the suspect Anura Senanayake had undergone major surgery.
This was revealed by Anura Senanayakes Attorney-at-Law Anil Silva PC in court yesterday. DIG Senanayake was accused of having screened the evidence into the death of Wasim Thajudeen by knowing or having reason to believe that an offence punishable by death has been committed and provided false information by screening the offender from legal punishment. Thajudeen was killed apparently in a road accident on May 12th, 2012. Later it was revealed that the death was a murder.
The court had summoned six prosecution witnesses including former Narahenpita OIC Sumith Champika Perera to appear before the court.
Senanayake was indicted in the High Court under Section 198 of the Penal Code for screening offenders of Thajudeen’s murder from legal punishment.
24 witnesses including Wasim Thajudeen’s sister Fatima Thajudeen and Colombo Chief Judicial Medical Officer Prof. Ajith Tennakoon are named to give evidence for the prosecution. (T. Thajudeen Farook)

Why have scapegoats prosecuted over the past happenings? The culprits behind not even arrested despite evidence. If it was Simon from the village he would have been arrested on suspicion without evidence

Due to double standards applied into these investigations by the AG and the Police the real culprits are left out

My God how many extrajudicial killings too place during the previous government. Malwattha and aAsgitlriya gave a blank check to Malinda. Why the karma is getting delayed.

Why can’t the CID find out from the suspect by offering him immunity from prosecution of the person who instructed him to do what he did

The people who instructed to carry the orders Anura Senanayake also should be exposed?
