According to instruction by the Road Development Authority (RDA), the Expressway Operation Maintenance and Management Division decided not to levy charges for vehicles at exit points from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm. It is applicable to all expressway users.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the Expressway Maintenance and Management Division Director S. Opanayaka said the decision was taken considering the present situation and the country-wide police curfew which is imposed from 8.00 pm to 4.00 am.
He also said the Katunayake Expressway would be open to all vehicles if the Negombo road which was closed at Welisara for security operations.
