Steps will be taken to provide tabs to primary and secondary students to help their studies in the future, Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said at Rathnalankara Maha Vidyalaya in Giriulla.
"The government has also taken steps to recruit 5,000 graduates as teachers under the government's programme to provide employment to 20,000 graduates," the minister said.
He said the Cabinet paper on recruiting 3,500 additional teachers to national schools has been submitted already.
Meanwhile, the minister said the education system should be freed from politics and all recruitment in the education sector should be made only with suitable personnel. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
