Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has proposed a special method for student identification, where every student will been assigned a number with a QR code verified by a fingerprint to be adhered to by all schoolchildren when they are enrolled in government schools.

“The introduction of the Unique Student Code for students who enter the school, along with a Fingerprint Identification and a Quick Response Code. It was also proposed to use this number at school level examinations,” the minister said.

The ministry said this new identification system, will make it possible to observe the achievements of students at the Grade Five Scholarship Examination, GCE O/L and A/L examinations. It would also effectively reduce the number of examination frauds. (Chaturanga Pradeep)

In the Western Countries everyone is monitored and information stored from the cradle to grave. This pressure is one of the reasons for the disproportionate number of mental problems among the Whites. Are we going to create a Sick Society like the West in Sri Lanka.

How can the monitoring of an individual's information create pressure. The pressure is from the pursuit of wrong objectives and very shallow values. As much as some have the "perception" that 'Whtes' meanng industrially wealthy countries have problems, they in turn have the perception that Asian Countries have enough problems of their own in their societies.

Not only students but every citizen from child birth or from the point of becoming a naturalized citizen should have a DNA and bio metric profile with retinal scan and finger prints. These records should then be encrypted and shared with birth certificates, ID cards, driving licenses and passports, etc. Any attempt to tamper with the electronic IDor stored data should be made a serious offense punishable by death.

Instead of children, can we get QR codes on politicians? examination frauds are negligible compared to your frauds.
