This is not new to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is a violent country since its independence. Riots against minorities, JVP armed group fight against the government two times, LTTE and the Government Forces fighting, latest riots against Muslims, and the Easter Sunday Attack. Plus there are individuals who are facing war crime charges or accusation

According to media sources, Sri Lankan government forces burned JVP members' dead bodies during its insurgence after extra judicially killing them by Sri Lankan forces under the UNP government
