The government will admit 60,000 students to State universities this year in two batches based on the results of the GCE Advanced Level examinations conducted in 2018 and 2019, Higher Education Minister Bandula Gunawardane said yesterday.
“There is a batch of students pending admission depending on the results of the 2018 examination. We are hoping to accommodate both the batches this year,” he told Daily Mirror.
According to the results of the 2019 examination, more than 181,000 students are eligible to apply for university entrance. However, because of limited facilities only 30,000 could be enrolled to the universities for various degree courses.(Kelum Bandara)
