State Minister casts doubts over invisible hand in Mahara Prison riot

An independent investigation would be carried out into the Mahara Prision riot to identify the invisible hand in orchestrating mayhem, Prison Reforms & Prisoners' Rehabilitation State Minister Sudarshini Fernandopulle informed Parliament today.

State Minister who was responding to a question raised by the opposition MPs said the government was ready to conduct an independent investigation into the riot.

“ There is an invisible hand which activted suddenly and we are ready to conduct an independent probe to uncover who is behind the riot. This is also a part of a trend of unrest that has been reported from prisons recently," she alleged. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

You must resign! No decent country permits authorities to use live ammunition on prisoners. Ask who instructed STF to come in and fire. We have a bad history about 9 years ago where prisoners were massacred cold blood.

When any politicians arrested they treat in prison as VIP but normal prisoners they treat like animals no human rights in sri lankan prisons, best business places in sri lanka is prisons. Drugs tobacco cigrates etc supplied by police officers
