Sevmi Tharuka second runner up at Miss Italia 2019’

The 20-year-old Sevmi Tharuka Fernando - daughter of a Sri Lankan couple who had migrated to Italy about 30 years ago - has claimed the second runner up in the ‘Miss Italia 2019’ beauty contest held in Jesolo, Venice, Italy on Friday night.

She has also won the title ‘Miss Smile.

The competition was won by Carolina Stramare with Serena Petrali becoming the first runner up.

Sevmi Tharuka Fernando, born in the town of Padua, is a diploma holder of beauty culture and works as a model.

She qualified for the finals of the Miss Italia contest after being crowned the beauty queen at the Veneto Provincial contest.

She became one of the 187 contestants selected from regional contests and earned a place among the 80 contenders for the final held Friday night.
