The 80-year-old deceased and the members of his family had been subject to self-quarantine when the bride in a wedding ceremony he had attended was tested CORONA positive.
His relatives said he had been suffering from other ailments as well due to his advanced age and had been under treatment. His condition had worsened last morning and died.
His body was transported under strict supervision of the health authorities including MOH Dr. Uthpala Sankalpa and Chairman of the Kuliyapitiya Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society- Yohan Nirosh to Kuliyapitiya Teaching Hospital mortuary by vehicle belonging to the funeral service of the Cooperative Society.

Emphasises need for extreme caution and protection of our elderly, as risk of death is higher in this group. Also, given the widespread incidence, perhaps better to stop gatherings for a while.

Now it is too late to lockdown. There is no difference in lockdown or not but look for the curve to be flatten. What now can do is keep the elderly inhouse for six months without outside links/ contacts. Or else people will see what they saw on TVs from other countries.
