Science, Technology Research Minister Susil Premajayantha said yesterday the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) had not given up its efforts to join hands with the joint opposition to contest the upcoming elections.
He told Daily Mirror his side had not abandoned efforts to unite the two factions of the party and that talks were underway in various ways to achieve this and added that some ministers were talking to the media without knowing what was going on behind the scenes.
“We have not given up our efforts,” he said. (Kelum Bandara)

This so-called JO members are those that ruined this country with corruption, nepotism etc. and the President has already made the blunder of taking some these into his fold. Now he wants to join with the same bunch of crooks to ruin this country just for the sake of the party.

Hello Mr. Fence. You can not have the cake and eat the cake. Eat it now and go.
Guliver Monday, 04 December 2017 09:57 AM
Why does this man, if his beliefs are so strong, not leave the government and join the JO? It is quite obvious, he does NOT have the courage of his convictions and is a REAL OPPORTUNIST who is interested in his survival! A typical Lankan politician!!.

Time has come for us to think of a new leadership.None of these people who are in the Govt. and opposition including JVP is capable of changing the existing system. Hence they should not be given a chance to come to power. Change in the political culture of our country is badly needed now. I imagine a sensible dictatorship should come to change it. Our duty is to get rid of these rouge politicos in an election and to pave the way for a strong man.

Most certainly. Usually birds of a feather always flock together. How many of those in both sides, jointly, were in "deals" in the past. How can you survive divided!!!
